Picking the type of paving you want to put down on your new driveway can be a bit overwhelming as there are so many options on the market these days.  Below we have put togeather some of the more popular types of paving which we regularly use.

Standard Block Paving

​

Block paving is the most cost effective type of paving that we use on driveways.  They come in a single size and interlock together in several different patterns such as 90 or 45 degree herringbone, basket-weave and linear.  The paving comes in up to six different colours depending on supplier.  Here are some pictures of where we have used this type of paving in previous projects.

Brett Alpha Block Paving

​

Brett Alpha paving comes in three different sizes, it has an aged look to it which blends well with most surroundings, and it is one of the most popular types of paving that we use.  These are put down randomly with the idea of breaking the previous lines to get the ideal effect.  The Alpha also comes in several colours so can be easily matched to the shades of each individual property.  These are some examples of where we have used Brett Alpha.

Tegula Paving

​

Tegula Paving is supplied by Marshalls and is considered to be the most popular traditional block paving in the UK.  It is well known for its longevity and is designed to create a time worn appearance.  The Tegula comes in three different sizes like the Alpha but the blocks themselves are bigger in diameter.  There are six different colours to choose from and we would normally suggest to customers to put a border in a different colour to the main driveway, to give it a nice contrast.  Here are some examples of where we have used Tegula.

Argent Paving

​

Argent paving is probably the most popular product we use for driveways.  It has a granite look to it, is extremely hard wearing compared to other products and has a much more textured finish.  The Argent paving also comes in three different sizes which should be laid in a specific pattern.  There are four different colours in the range, of which the Graphite and the Light are the two most popular we have used.  These are some examples of the Argent Paving we have used on driveways previously.

Above are just a few of the most popular types of paving which we have used over the last few years, there are many more types on the market, so if a customer finds something which is not listed above, we can also quote using different products.  We also do a lot of gravel driveways and these come in many colours and can be combined with any type of paving.

Walling, Steps, Fencing & Kerbs

​

Once you have chosen the paving for your driveway, you are likely to require some new walling, steps, fencing or kerb flowerbed retainers built.  Here are some pictures of work we have completed to give you an idea of what can be achieved.

Sleepers

​

Sleepers are fast becoming a trademark for Abbey View Driveways.  We have now built these for a lot of customers to act as walling.  These come fully treated and will stand the test of time.  There is a lot of work involved in getting the desired, finished look.  We use a template to get the correct shape, once this is achieved we cut them with a chainsaw and sand each one to get a nice smooth finish.  Here are a few examples of where we have installed Sleepers.  They really are a beautiful substitute for brick walling.

Recessed Manhole Covers

​

Recessed Manhole is what we use to replace the old ugly steal covers that are on many of the old driveways. The Recessed cover is designed in a way that allows us to integrate the paving block into the cover itself so that it blends into the paved area.  Here are a couple of examples of these from our portfolio.
